1st Annual Schmidt Family Iron Chef

So a couple of posts ago I mentioned that my family was going to be doing an Iron Chef where we have our secret ingredient which was cheese and we had to come up with something amazing. Stephanie already her pictures from her awesome-a camera up on her blog so if you don't want a sour taste in your mouth after seeing both of our blogs, I suggest you look at mine first then hers so you come off with a better impression. Sorry about the words I'm a little retarded. Deal with it.

We all got plates of some of EVERYTHING and after much deliberation the Judges, Dad and Justin, decided the winners.

Team Steph/Kevin won an Honorable Mention for their Goat Cheese and Sun-Dried Tomato Puffroles (that's not what they are really called but that's what I'm calling them) and their Italian Cucumber Salad with Mozzarella Pearls (very tasty)
Team Mom/Charles also received an honorable mention for their Chorizo and Cheese Quesadilla, Mozzarella and Tomato Salad, and a very yummy Cream Cheese Flan. Tim and I won Most Original with a Turkish Cheese Borek and Pecan Tassis with Cream Cheese Crust but I don't have any pictures of that.

Team Sarah/Jordan with a Broccoli Cheese Souffle, and Fruit Sushi with Boysenberry Sauce won "Best Presentation"
Team Dorthy/Rory with Grilled Ham and Cheese with Apple and Ricotta Cheese Cannoli won Most Delicious

Quick Re-cap.

Okay, now that February is almost over, I need to catch up with all my posting that I need to do. So here we go, there's really not a lot just one thing actually. Sarah turned 17 on the 14th of this month but was a little over shadowed by her big bro, Charles from speaking in church after he returned home from his mission. So, I decided I wanted to take Sarah out on a Sister date. The night before she said she had never been to Archibald's at Gardner Village and my husband had never been there so I that's where we went. I can't remember what every one got, but Sarah actually spent the majority of the time NOT texting on her her to Jordan. Amazing huh? I guess miracles do happen... but wait, maybe she wasn't texting because she was so tired....:) Happy Birthday Sarah

The Great House Adventure

Tim and I have been looking at homes and we've finally found one we want to put an offer on. It's a townhouse out in Eagle Mountain and I'm pretty much in love with it. Because it's a townhouse it doesn't have a very big yard, but that's okay for right now. Eagle Mountain for anyone who has no idea where or what that is, is a growing majorly LDS community out on the west of Utah Lake. It's tucked away behind the popular Saratoga Springs, if anyone knows what that is. We told my mom we were planning on looking for a house out there and all she could say was, "That's a little far isn't it?" Guess what mom, that's the idea. :) So here are a few pictures of the house just so you can get a feel for it. It has three bedrooms and two full and one half bathrooms. The best part is it may come with a piano which is really awesome because it's really chewed up but it sounds great so it makes for a lovely project for me to work on. everything in it or on it looks great and is in great condition and I'm so excited about it. You'll have to turn sideways to look at the picture of the front, I didn't turn it right ways up. Ooops.:)

Tim's New Toy

So with our tax return this year Tim came to me with a list of demands. I was dumb enough to have mentioned beforehand that if I were to EVER get a game system it would be a Wii because the other ones you just sit on your butt all the time and the Wii makes you move, and normally I'm religiously against gaming systems for this reason, but my tongue was a little loose that day and it came back to slap me in the face. So from that can we all guess what he bought? Yes a Wii, a couple of games, some steering wheels and a few more Wiimotes, so more people can play, because we plan on playing it only with other people because since we're not really tv watchers anyway, why would video games be any different and it's more fun that way. But Tim pulled it out of the box tonight and I'm glad we got it. The video will explain and leaving you begging for more. Yes, I know how could anything be possibly that good? Well, it is. The quality is bad, but the content is so good!

Tim and I love all our nieces and nephews and we love Kynna a lot. We think she's so special and she makes our day with her smile. Happy Birthday Kynna!

I especially love how Conner blew out Kynna's candles for her...:)

Late Evening Arrival

The Long Walk down to the right terminal. Right as we were getting there Rory and Tim bolted ahead of everyone else, which was only natural because they are both freakishly tall.:) I love you honey! The babies couldn't stay awake, it was so late for them...

Charles got to meet the babies for the first time which I'm sure was a dizzying experience. Rowan is almost 2 Abi is almost one and Riley is almost 7 months.... He has a lot to catch up on.
I'm sure Riley would have been more excited if she hadn't been just woken up. Oh yeah that's Kevin with a shaved head in the back ground, don't ask about his hair.. it's just confuses people.

Charles came home last night and it was an odd experience, and even though Charles was probably weirded out by how long I hugged him, it was still fun and I didn't loose it completely like I thought I would. Right before Charles came down the escalator, Sarah was getting really antsy, Dorthy was crouching on the floor, trying not to throw up and Mom was ready to break out into a sprint the moment she saw him. Awww memories.. I'm not going to lie, I was shaking and I thought I was going to throw up too. Good times, even Jordan got all anxious about it.
Okay, so before you watch this video I have to explain why I'm yelling at my mother. Tim was hopefully playing around and saying he was going to run up to Charles and hug him and when I told him that mom should hug him first, my mom said of her own volition, "We'll just see who he goes to first." So with that in mind, let's see who he does go to first, or who he doesn't have a choice to go to first (smirk;)) Even though we kept the babies up late, it was a good time and we're all glad he's home and safe. Unfortunately for him, he now has to get a job and live in the real world.... sigh.

Ok ok, i can't wait... He's coming home!!

So a couple of posts ago I said I found out some exciting news about my little bro who is on a mission. He comes home TOMORROW!!!! Needless to say I'm pretty darn excited to see him. I wasn't able to go see him off to the MTC, seeing as I was on my honeymoon and all, but not only will he come home to see me married, but with a baby! Woah, I don't know if I could handle that. His flight comes in the airport late tomorrow night so he'll be really tired, but he'll have to get over it because he's got some important things to get doing! Charles served his mission in the Baltic states which is somewhere not a lot of people know about. For those of you who do just ignore this next part, ; the Baltic states mission includes Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and some of Russia. Charles spent half his time in Russia and half his time in Estonia. Most of his mission he dealt with really bad headaches and other health issues, which finally sent him home a few months early but he knows he served his mission to the best of his ability. We love him so much here at home and we are so excited to see again, I'm not even sure I will be able to control my emotions all day tomorrow. I think about him and I start to cry because I've missed him so much.... okay let me regain my composure... so we're all excited and that's the big news.
