Schmidt Christmas 2009

This year is almost over and so is another year off of Charles' mission time. Now if you know Charles, then you'll know that he's kind of standoffish and a little snobby, but that's just because he thinks he knows everything. This Christmas was nice because we got to talk a nice HUMBLE Charles. It's amazing what a mission can do for a person. This year was also fun because we pitched in to buy my parents a new TV and VCR/DVD player because, quite frankly, their old one STINKS. So here are a few pictures to remember the time by. I was a little disappointed because Tim couldn't stop talking about he needed Justin to help him with something in the car, but I guess next time we get a surprise gift we just can't tell Tim. :)My Dad opened the TV. He said that he already KNEW that we were getting him a TV , but he was still pretty excited because he went right downstairs to set it up;) (knew what you were getting...pish posh.)
My mom got to open up the VCR because she was in a small cramped area. My Grandparents (that's my Grandpa behind my mom) came up to bring presents and to talk to Charles. It's nice to see them every once in a while. Since they live kinda far away, its fun when we do get to see them. I miss them when we don't see them for a while.
Rowan, Abi, and Riley were all around the phone "talking" to Charles. The phone was on speaker phone so Charles couldn't tell who was talking and he just kept talking, and not listening to the kids babble at him, but it was so cute.
Rowan would talk to the phone even when we didn't have Charles on the line... He's so funny. He got so excited and it sounded like he was saying "Hey Charles, Hey Charles" it was so cute to watch.
So another Christmas has come and gone and Charles only has about 5 months left on his mission. CRAZY!!!!! That also means Tim and I have been married for two years. WEIRD!!! 2009 was an awesome year to experience pregnancy, childbirth, and family time. I hope next year has much more to offer and that the country gets into better shape, but for now, I'm happy with my new little baby, my nieces and nephews and all fun I've had with my family. I'm grateful I've had so many chances to grow and learn spiritually, mentally, physically and as a family. 2009 was great, but I'm stoked for 2010 to be here already.

Tim's gift was from Katie. He got some sweet dress shirts for work with the gift card. Thank you Katie!

My gift was from Mercedes, I love Bath and Body Works but haven't been able to go for a while, I was nevertheless stoked about my gift. Thank you Mercedes!

Christmas 2009

For our first Christmas as a little family unit, I would have to say that it went fairly well. Riley woke up around 6 and wouldn't go back to sleep so we decided around 7 that we may as well get up and open our gifts to be on time to my parents house to talk to Charles, my little bro on his mission. Some pictures of the festivities... Enjoy. they are all of Riley:)Riley scores a exersaucer for Christmas. Biggest selling point it said "A Safer Alternative to Walkers" RIGHT ON THE BOX.
Riley and her Kangaroo and Baby Joey she got from Santa.
The loot.
Riley and Penny snuggle every morning but of course with it being Christmas and all it was extra cute. They sure do love each other!!
Awwww!

Don't be fooled by the tired look on Riley's face. She's the one who wouldn't go back to sleep and she's the one who continued to scream no matter what her mommy did.

Mystery Solved!!

So for the past few weeks Riley has been drooling a lot. Now you first think, oh she's getting teeth, but no, she's been drooling since day one and no teeth. Then the past couple weeks she's been constipated and waking up in the middle of the night. And you think, oh, she's getting teeth, but no teeth ever pooped out. The constipation may have been due to the fact she is starting on bigger kids food and cereal and whatnot, but no teeth. Until yesterday she grabbed my hand and put my finger in her mouth and bit me. With her TEETH that came out of nowhere. Rowan is getting his molars in and is horrible to deal with because he gets diarrhea when he teethes. YUUUUCK! Abi hasn't started getting teeth but I'm sure she will soon. But anyways, Riley has teeth now, the second bottom tooth popped up today. So in turn breastfeeding days are officially over. :) It's odd, the bigger she gets the more I want to spend time with her and just be with her. Today I had a job interview to be a registrar for IHC hospitals which if I could work about 4 hours a day would be good and I wouldn't be missing too much time with my baby. It's not a bad job, the training is a little intense but I think I could do it... I don't really have a lot of support on the husband side... At least I don't feel like I do. It's probably just me. Sigh

Family Pics 2009

On Saturday we asked Sarah to come with us to Gardner Village in West Jordan and take some pictures of our little family for our parents and grandparents' Christmas Cards. They turned out really nice. I'm so lucky to have such a talented little sister. I wish I could afford to buy her a better camera, but these pictures taken with my little digital are more than I could ask for. I can only imagine when Riley gets bigger and we get more little spirits in our family how cute our pictures will be. I'm so grateful for my family, my little family and my big family. I am also grateful my hair turned out that day. :)
Riley is getting so big we're planning on taking pictures like this at least twice a year. I still don't think it'll be enough but we can only do so much. She's such a beautiful little girl, I'm so proud of myself. She's the best trophy ever!

Tim thinks you have to point in pictures, to see what the picture was all about. I love how Riley is wondering what his finger is doing out. Just ignore Tim's old man grin.
We love our little Riley Roo. She makes everything 10 times better... and she's really fun to smooch on.:) I love this picture. I think it's pretty obvious Riley doesn't.
my jacket is supposed to be purple... It looks blue.

... and the best picture award goes to.... This one! thanks Justin for making her smile.:)

What Do You Say?

So lately I 've tried to keep myself busy and mainly keep myself out of trouble, so I haven't blogged much. I have however seen a few movies and because I feel generous I want to blog about my opinion of them.:) In November The Tucker girls, my sister and Katie's mom and sister all went to go see New Moon. Yes ladies this is the one where Jake cuts his hair and gets his man muscles. what I tell everyone: It was definitely better than the first, but the acting is still a little stiff and I really don't dig Robert Pattinson. I know he's supposed to look like he's in pain when he's around Bella, but to me he just looks squinty. Like the sun is in his eyes all the time, even when it's dark. But I had a good time at the movie anyways and it was super cool of Katie to let me invite and bring my sister. But to top the night off, whilst we were walking out of the theater, some 7th grade vampire lover turns to sqwak to her friend: "Jane is supposed to be BLACK." I heard this and just stopped even though a horde of people were behind me, it was about two in the morning and the eye candy was gone, so needless to say, some people weren't happy with me for stopping to contemplate this deranged pubescent comment, Then I feared for her well being. She looked much to young to be doing drugs, but I guess you never know these days. But if you go to see it or when you're reading the books, no matter what you see or hear, 'Jane is supposed to be BLACK'
The Saturday after Thanksgiving my dad wanted to take all of us kids, and our families to a dollar movie, because let's face it, if you were to take 12 people to a regular movie, you have to be a millionaire. I for one love dollar theaters. They're cheap and most of them are pretty decent and you don't leave you're shoes on the floor when you get to leave. Anyway the Saturday after Thanksgiving my dad wanted to go to a movie so we decided on a movie and because I hadn't seen it yet, we went to go see "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". All in all it was pretty good. I heard the last one is going to split up into 2 movies, but I can't really be sure because that may be Twilight news and I'm just meshing the two paranormal movies together. I'm grateful for Harry Potter because it reminds me where I started and Twilight is where I ended up. Obviously I haven't moved very far culturally, but why not enjoy a good movie right? The HP kids are getting so much older and when I watched the 5th one with Justin the next day I saw how little they actually were when they first started. They were BABIES!!!!! So looking forward to the next movie, maybe next two movies??? Maybe someone can enlighten me as to what's going on there.
And for movie number three that I've seen in as many weeks, my mom took me and Steph to go see Julie and Julia. For those of you who don't know it's about a woman named Julie who is turning thirty and undertakes the daunting task of cooking through Julia Child's cookbook in one whole year. It also tracks through the life of the gargantuan woman herself, Julia Child. I remember growing up, watching her on tv and watching her do crazy cooking things like punching bread dough with her feeble old lady arms and fearing she was going to break something. Mainly the movie follows through the time Julia and her husband Paul lived in France and she took cooking lessons because she had nothing to do while she was there and she was bored. It's very cute and there's parts where you laugh and there's parts where you cry, but mostly you just laugh. Meryl Streep does a VERY good Julia Child impersonation. But anyway, this Julie lady cooks through the cook book and blogs about it, not thinking anyone is going to read it, but to her surprise lots of people do read and they like it. It also follows through her ups and downs as she learns that she's getting so wrapped up in fulfilling HER goals she completely forgets about her husband who, incidentally, suffers indigestion for her and eats EVERYTHING she makes, and gave her the idea in the first place. It was stupid but every time either Julie and her husband kissed or Julia and Paul kissed I missed Tim. Cheesy I know but when you're married and you're in a cheesy mood, it's all good. I liked this movie. Good story, somethings could be left out, but you have that with everything.
While I was at this movie I saw a trailer for Blind Side or The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock. Someone else will have to tell me what it's about because the trailer made me bawl my eyes out and I will not go see a movie to intentionally make myself cry.
Well, that's pretty much what has been up lately. Tah.
