More giggles... :) They'll make your day
Riley as she gets older is, as you can imagine VERY entertaining, and she is getting cuter and cuter (if that's even possible) every day.... I tried to upload some other videos from my phone but I don't know how and they are so cute I wish I could share!! But I guess I'll have to keep them all to myself...:) The top picture totally looks like a Schmidt kid...:)

Goodbye January... 2010 is already a month over
January is quickly slipping past and I say good riddance. I have never been a huge fan of January as the only snow left is gross and crusty and just seems to hang around forever and here in the bowl that is the Salt Lake Valley, we get the lovely inversion, mmmmmm terrible. But I would have to say that this has been one of the most enjoyable January-s I have ever experienced. Many good things have happened this month, I started my water aerobics class, which BTW is totally kicking my butt and there are days I want to go home and die, Riley hit her six month mark which is a pretty big deal to me because she is growing up so fast I don't want to belittle any second of it. i found out some exciting news from my mom, but I can't say anything because it pertains to a certain missionary and when he is expected to be doing something very exciting for everyone here at home. I have talked my mom into letting us do a Schmidt Family "Iron Chef" but, since that name is taken, I need suggestions before the third Sunday in February as we're supposed to have our first one then, and we have a secret ingredient that we're supposed to make a "out- of-the-usual" entree and dessert and bring it to our third sunday dinner where we'll "judge" each other's food and yes there are points given for presentation! every day that passes from January is one more day closer to the release of
"Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief " movie and pretty much everyone in my family has read them and we're making shirts to wear (yeah thanks to me and my twilight shirt, which Steph has a picture of on her blog BTW that you can see at Armtistead Family News it's pretty silly but she has some cute pics of her little baby Abi, so it's worth your time.:)) Tim is especially excited about the whole shirt idea and is driving everyone crazy about how much he over thinks his designs he wants, but I'm really glad he's reading good books. I don't know if he read much before he met me and started to hang out with my family where we read like it lives depend upon it, thanks Dad, most of us can devour a book in a day, including my father. If you have not heard about these books I seriously suggest you check them out because they are classic hero stories but they will never get old because of the inventive way they are told. Tim really identified with Percy because in the books it says that one of the traits of being a Demi-God is that you have ADD and dyslexia and Tim had these both, ADD more than dyslexia, and my dad's genes has bestowed that upon my brothers and myself. So they are entertaining and relate-able and they like I said before they are the classic hero stories from Greek mythology but tells it in such a fun way you hardly even know that you're learning. Just today I could hear Tim telling his brother who hasn't read it, the myth that the story follows and he's spouting names and items and he's telling it like a pro, all I could do was smile because I've always loved Greek and Egyptian mythology and it's nice to have something to talk to him about. But yeah my whole family is going to a showing of the movie and we're all pretty stoked about it, hence the shirts and the super long rant I just wrote about it. But honestly if you got YOUR dad to say "Yeah sure make me a shirt with something about Zeus on it." wouldn't YOU get excited?

Waves and Giggles
Riley has learned a new trick. She waves her pudgy little hands all the time like she just can't get enough of her little wrists working their magic. It's so cute when she waves at you and smiles, it would melt anyone's heart and if it doesn't well, you're a robot. Just thought I would share... it's a happy moment for me.:)

Water Aerobics
My sister, Steph, her sister in law Angela, and I have started a morning water aerobics class at oquirrh fitness park and I'll tell you right now that it is hard work, but so much fun. I should probably weigh myself now when we're starting so I can keep track of how much, if any, weight I lose. I can already feel my legs and my butt tightening up which is exciting for me. My goal is to get comfortably back into a size 7 jean and a size 6 dress.
It's a lot of fun too to watch the "more mature" women huffing and puffing away from treading water. They all have such good attitudes and you can tell how much better they feel about themselves because they know they are doing something good for their bodies.

Roo turns 6 months
This month Riley turns the big 6 months, and not only is she a great helper while her mother is trying to type, but she now says "Mom" Momma" you know the normal stuff. She is so funny and does really goofy things like scream at everyone in the row at church. These videos are from my phone so the quality is not great and this first video I had to cover it because the light was distracting her from laughing. My favorite thing that she does is giggle when I'm playing with her. It doesn't happen very often and in this video you have to listen pretty closely, but it's a lot of fun to hear. These last few months have been fun to go through and it seem like just a little while ago I was pregnant with her. This has been such a wonderful growing experience for me and I think for Tim, but since I get to spend more time with her I think I can appreciate the little things she does more.;) It's so much fun to have a baby but trying at times. I wouldn't trade for anything.

New Year, New Challenge
So since it's the New Year I believe it customary to make New Year Resolutions. For this I am slightly annoyed, but I feel obligated, probably leading to my annoyance. so, we'll start off with the classics; this year I vow(the word makes it funnier when I don't do it.:)) that I will:
Lose 20 pounds.... (snicker) yeah right. Let's make it 5 and if we get more than that it's a pleasant surprise.
Spend less money.... it's hard to spend any less money than zero.... but I'll still try my best. At least I'll succeed at that one!
Promote World Peace...... (I don't know it sounded good)
More importantly I would like to do the following:
Save more money.... Saving is different than not spending any money, which is why I put down here...
Be kinder to my siblings and my family.... They are the best things in my life and I don't what I would do without them, they deserve it every once in a while, Prepare and participate more in family activities with a good attitude!!!!
Attend all of my meetings on Sundays.... this is pretty easy for me since we teach Primary, and it's basically the best place on the planet, but there's always room for improvement, I suppose I could put study and prepare my class lessons more throughly.
Appreciate my husband for the things he does do and focus less on the things he doesn't.... I'm a super naggy wife to the pain of my ever patient husband, and there are days I get after him for everything. I'm seriously trying to be better and I will be it'll just take time and a lot of migraines.
Sew/Craft/Do Artsy, mom stuff More.... I'm not a scrapbooker and I can't sew in a straight line but I have never enjoyed anything as much as looking at something I made with pride and know that I did it all by myself. I made a pair of pjs for Riley and my mom made a couple pairs, and if you hold them side by side you definitely know who made which, but I still make Riley wear mine because what she going to do, tell me no?
Expand my interests and talents more.... I'm weird and I love anything to do with planning weddings. If anyone was involved with the planning of my wedding, they'll know that I was very specific as what I wanted and I paid for it if I had to. I could've seriously been engaged forever and planned for a few years and just bought things and would've been happy with it. I would really like to start my own event planning business and run an event hall, but you need money for stuff like that, so when Tim finishes school and gets a big fat raise for it, then we'll get it off the ground.
Take more pictures... they will most likely be all of Riley but I would like to take a picture for everyday of the year this year and put them up as a las assignment on my blog each day, but I'm already a few days behind so when I get around to it, there may be a few.
I think that's enough resolutions that may never be accomplished, don't you? I hope everyone made some kind of goal for this year whether it's going back to school, finishing school, buying a home or even getting your dinner dishes clean every night, if it's a goal that when reached it's something you can be proud of then why not do it?

Happy New Year! Hello 2010!
2010 is here and 2009 is over! FINALLY! For new year's eve we went to my parents house and slept over, which was interesting to say the least all the kids (except Charles) were there and the house got a little tight, but we still had fun. I didn't get any pictures otherwise they would be up.:)
